The Painting of Silence
A Tale of Art, Mystery, and Decadence in the French Riviera
The air was heavy with the scent of sea salt and lavender as I stepped off the train at the Saint-Tropez station. The end of October, and the French Riviera was already shrouded in a perpetual gloom, as if the winter sun had forgotten to rise. My name is Élise Dumont, and I'm an art critic for Le Monde. I had been sent to Saint-Tropez to cover the latest exhibitions at the local art museum, but something about the town felt... off.
