On the left is Caution with a mirror and a snake. The soldier is on the right, his shield bears the abbreviation S.P.Q.A. (the Senate and the people of Amsterdam). In his left hand he has chains with which he has shackled the man in front of him. Below this man lies a man with dog ears and a broken dagger. On the obelisk there are two medallions with sea symbolism: above Neptune on his chariot and below the sea.
