The monument is hung with medallions with images and coats of arms of the most important cities per province. The monument is crowned with a trophy of banners and coats of arms behind a seated personification of the States General with Freedom on the left and Peace and Concord on the right. In the left margin a windmill and a horse as symbols of agriculture, on the right an Amsterdam ship as a symbol of trade. In the foreground on the left Mercury surrounded by all kinds of products from the land. On the right river gods with fish, fishing nets etc. In the center putti with attributes of the arts and sciences, including a painting on an easel and a printing press. The print also includes an explanation.
