The Antique Shop, ca. 1906, Oil on cardboard, 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 in. (24.1 x 19.1 cm), Paintings, Walter Richard Sickert (British, Munich 1860–1942 Bathampton, Somerset), This is one of three sketches of an antique shop in Dieppe that Sickert used as the basis for a larger painting (all whereabouts unknown). The picturesque town on the coast of Normandy had long been a summer destination for Sickert: he and other artist friends are the subject of a pastel group portrait by Degas, who encountered them there in 1885 (Museum of Rhode Island School of Design, Providence)
