On it a medallion with on the front a portrait of Agostino Barbarigo with a doge's hat. On the back the female personification of Venice, surrounded by weapons and holding a sword. Next to her is the lion of Saint Mark. The pedestal is surrounded by three more personifications. On the left Science, a youth sitting in front of an open book by a lamp. Behind him a rooster. Next to him State Speech (reason of state) dressed in a cuirass with a skirt decorated with eyes and ears. With a stick she breaks some poppies (opium poppies) from their stems. Her left arm rests on the head of a lion. On the right is the female personification of Carefulness with in her right hand a sprig of thyme with a bee flying. In her left hand an almond branch and a mulberry branch. At her feet a rooster.
