Birth of Christ, Mary and Joseph kneeling by the Christ Child. Reproduction of the miraculous painting to which the victory by the combined armies of the Holy Roman Empire and the Catholic League under John Tserclaes, Count of Tilly, over the Czech Bílá Hora at the Battle of White Mountain (8 November 1620) near Prague was attributed. The painting was brought to the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria in Rome on 8 May 1622. In the painting the eyes of all the figures, except those of the Christ Child, have been gouged out. In the print they have been filled in with pencil. The caption provides an explanation of this history.
