Bottle in the Form of a Pomegranate, New Kingdom, Ramesside, Dynasty 19–20, ca. 1295–1070 B.C., From Egypt, Glass, opaque, H. 12 cm (4 3/4 in); diam. 8.6 cm (3 3/8 in), Pomegranate juice was prized as a drink, but it can also be used as an astringent to shrink tissues and reduce swelling in wounds. This jar probably held juice for consumption as a drink.
