Candelabrum, The candelabrums consist of a candlestick and an attachment with three hinged arms. The profiled, rejuvenating base is octagonal in section, with alternating straight and wavy sides. In the flat top there is a round floor from which the also round, constricted, ring-shaped upper part of the foot rises. On this rests the baluster-shaped stem, standing on a widened spherical foot. The stem too is octagonal; the alternating straight and convex sides correspond to those of the foot. The vase-shaped, profiled candle holder is again round in section. Its constricted body is articulated by a ring. Inside the candle holder fits the top, which consists of a hexagonal core that has alternating straight and wavy sides, and three arms connected by hinges to the straight sides of the core. The profiled core, which first widens and then rejuvenates, rests on a circular, constricted base and is crowned by an also circular, multiple-profiled knob with a bell-shaped termination. The arms, built from two C-volutes, are square in section. They are articulated by profiles and decorated with curling, stylized leaf volutes. They carry large tallies with a raised rim, decorated with an imposed profile edge, above which rise the profiled, vase-shaped candleholders, whose incised body is articulated by a ring. On the upper part of the foot is engraved a three-master at sea under the monogram GWC, for the General West India Company. Along the lower edge of the foot is the engraved inscription: The General Octrooibal West India Company has made this Present to Mr. Capiteyn Cornelis Schrijver, for his Frequent Occupations and services rendered to the Company in the year 1737 beweese., silversmith: Pieter Mouritz (attributed to), Amsterdam, 1738, silver (metal), height 37.5 cm × width 39.5 cm × depth 39.5 cmwidth 13.8 cm × depth 13.8 cmheight 23.5 cm × weight 1816 gr
