Christiaan Cornelis is standing on a ship. He has his left arm in a sling, in his other a sword. On 31 July 1794 Cornelis recaptured a cove ship taken by the French, on which he had served as a sailor. After Cornelis returned the ship he was rewarded by the admiral of Kinsbergen with a silver tobacco box.
