In the midfield an image is embroidered showing that Paul is sailing away in a rowing boat. He sails from the coastline towards a sailing ship that can be seen to the right of the center. Some men and women kneel on the land on the left of the image. In front of them stands a monk with his hands stretched out towards Paul. Paul is kneeling in the back of the rowing boat and greets the people on the land. He is holding his hat in his right hand, pressing his left hand onto his heart. In the rowing boat there are six men in a double row behind Paul. Among other things, they hold a sword and a cross vane. Two other men row. A flock of pigeons flew in from the top right corner. At the far left you can see part of a church. A closed frame has been made around the midfield with a pattern of sharply serrated oak leaves and s-volutes along the outer edge.
