Cotton darning flap with nine different sized darning tapestries made of multicolored silk and in the middle a depiction in petit point surrounded by crowns and wreaths with initials, ANNO 1837, This is an example of a second experiment in darning by the Openbare Werk- en Leerschool in Amsterdam. The romantic castle landscape and the decorative border are embroidered over one fabric thread. The stoppers are arranged in horizontal rows, from left to right and from left to right: pointed twill, eyelet (identifying mark of this school), square: pointed, knit stitch (nice example, see also back of sampler!), tuck-through, flat binding, pointed twill, pointed twill, twill. The open hem is made with a linen thread. AH stands for Alida Haring, the handiwork lady., Maria Egersman, Openbare Werk- en Leerschool, 1837, lap: cotton (textile), length 52.0 cm × width 56.0 cm
