Cuff of needlepoint lace with flower branch in u-shaped cartouche, Cuff of natural-colored needlepoint lace: Brussels gauze lace. The repeating pattern consists of a u-shaped cartouche containing a floral branch with two rosette flowers and two calyx flowers. The 'legs' of the u are formed by two straight pillars, surmounted by a rosette flower and three-lobed leaf. Below each pillar hangs an oval medallion with a rosette flower in the center. Between the pillars and the successive medallions hangs a decorative frame with five lobes and below it a garland of three leaves between two rosette flowers. Together with this garland, the medallions provide the scalloped edge along the bottom of the strip. The motifs have contour threads, the three circles in the pillars and the rosette flower in each medallion have thicker relief contours. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a mesh lace ground. The top of the cuff is finished with a separate bobbled band.
