Design for a Festival Float or Barge, ca. 1530–40, Pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash, highlighted with white, over black chalk, on faded blue paper, 10-1/4 x 16-7/8 in. (26.1 x 42.8 cm), Drawings, Circle of Perino del Vaga (Pietro Buonaccorsi) (Italian, Florence 1501–1547 Rome), Possibly by Prospero Fontana (Italian, Bologna 1512–1597 Bologna), Another study with some variations for this elaborate decorative construction, which may well have been intended for a festival float, is in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Rennes (inv. C 65.1). Both drawings in New York and Rennes bear a traditional attribution to Polidoro da Caravaggio, but Bernice Davidson pointed out that they are the work of some close follower of Perino del Vaga
