Design for a Reliquary Monstrance, Red, black chalk, brush and watercolors, white gouache on paper, Vertical format design for a reliquary monstrance intended to be executed in white and gilded silver. The shaft is to be gilded. The upper part is drawn at left with less white, at right with less gilded silver. The elevation and decoration are symmetrically disposed but for the lack of symmetry in rocaille escutcheons. Below is a moulded base. A symmetrically disposed escutcheon is in the center of the foot. Around the ovoidal receptacle is a framing of rocaille scrolls like those at the edges of the outer frame. In the intervals are rocaille motifs and flower sprays. On top is a leaf palmette with a trefoil. A glory of rays is shown at right, slightly indicated at left., South or West, Germany, 1740–70, metalwork, Drawing, Drawing
