Design for a Round Tureen, Giovacchino Belli, Italian, 1756 - 1822, Pen and ink, brush and watercolor, graphite on paper, Vertical rectangle. Design for a round tureen intended to be executed in partly gilded silver. The round base is similar to that in 1938-88-651: a round base of two sections, the lower one showing a fret band. Four standing displayed eagles carrying festoons are intended upon the upper section, three shown. A round pedestal rises in the middle. Upon it stands upon four curved legs the bowl, described with leaf festoons hanging from Medusa masks at the upper ends of the legs. Pairs of snakes rise from the lateral masks, serving as handles. The upper part of the cover is shaped as a shell. Upon it stands the figure of Juno, raising a bowl with her right hand, the peacock beside her., Rome, Italy, early 19th century, tableware designs, Drawing, Drawing
