An engraving depicting various stages of silk manufacturing in China from 1745 to 1747. It includes scenes of winding silk from cocoons in a cauldron, using a balneum Maria to kill worms in the cocoons, removing cocoons from mats after being placed in earthen pots, and winding silk from cocoons in copper vessels with warm water. Also illustrated are methods of winding silk and sheets of paper hanging with eggs on them. Published in London by T. Astley
