Fan, ca. 1910–14, Horn, mother-of-pearl, silk, 8 1/4 x 15 1/2 in. (21 x 39.4 cm), Fans, Bastard made this fan in France as a special order for Tiffany & Co., which opened a new showroom in Paris in 1910 on the Place de l’Opéra. These premises were decorated by the firm of Alavoine et Cie under the direction of the young furniture maker Armand-Albert Rateau (whose work may be seen in this gallery) before he established his own business
