Allegory on the Austrian war of succession for the German imperial crown, 1742. In the strange scene, a group of angry peasants stand around a cage in which a man is imprisoned, a woman pours a bucket of water over the man's head. A winch man sits on the edge of the viewing box, and a monkey on the roof turns the cage with a crank. In the foreground are playing cards, dice, marbles and a violin. On the right, Maria Theresa puts glasses on the harlequin's nose.
