Folding fan with double sheet of paper with a question and answer game printed on the front with red ink on a padouk and ebony frame. These etched fan blades were printed in large numbers and mounted on simple wooden frames.. Some variation was obtained by applying different dot engravings or by using a different color of printing ink. They were cheap impellers that were not always mounted as accurately as is the case with this example. That the question and answer game on the front is about love, is clear from the text underneath the dotted dot engraving. This ends with the phrase 'Livronts Nous Aux Tendres Delires' or 'Let us surrender to the sweet madness.' The game was played because the lover chose a random question on the left half of the sheet and his lover answered it with a randomly chosen answer from the right. Furthermore, a rebus could be solved on each of the outer legs: on the left 'sa beauté m'étonne' and on the right 'elle est sans défauts'. Between the cartouches and medallions with the questions and answers are the well-known pastoral and love symbols. The classical element is emphasized by the vases, arabesques and the representation on the dot engraving. The leaf is unadorned at the back., anonymous, France, c. 1790 - c. 1800, blad, montuur, cutting, l 27 cm × s 48 cm
