Folding fan with a sheet of paper, on which three cartoons of gold paint on the front with watercolor pastoral scenes (fishermen, shepherdess, peasant woman) and on the back a fisherman under a tree, on a frame of ivory ajour and embossed with 'mé tal and quatre couleurs', The three fields on the front of the leaf are entirely devoted to idealized, unspoiled country life, in the middle a gallant company fishing, on the left a pastroral scene with a shepherdess and on the right a farmer's wife who comes back from milking with the yoke on her shoulders and filled buckets in his hand. Because of the hill with the castle in the background in the fishermen's scene, one can assume that a central or southern European example was used for this performance. It is striking in the two media salons that the performance and frame overlap. Around it garlands that are hung like tricks on trompe-l'oeil with rings on tacks. A fishing man is painted under a tree on the reverse side of the leaf. In the middle of the frame a gallant company with two fashionably dressed women and a man with a triangular stitch in his hand. Furthermore, two swans, a large classical vase and putti with flower baskets. This frame clearly shows how the support part of the outer legs had meanwhile become an important decorative element. On the left leg: turtle doves, a pearl rim, an elegant woman holding something in her hand and rocialle, on the right leg: two swaying pigeons, a fashionable man with a triangular stitch in his hand and rocaille. Both figures are placed in front of a mother-of-pearl background. Striking is the use of small counterfeit gems, which were probably applied under the influence of neoclassicism.
