Folding fan with thin leather leaf on which a wedding scene in watercolor, on ivory frame with 'métal en quatre couleurs' Hymen is led to a marriage altar. The group is surrounded by misusing and sacrificing putti and a man and woman turning towards each other, with a laurel branch and a cornucopia with fruits. They probably symbolize prosperity and fertility that accompany the couple. The classical element is emphasized by the temple on the left, the garden vase on the wall on the right and the vases above the medallions on both sides. Love symbols in these medallions. On the back of the leaf a branch with flowers. A marriage proposal may have been displayed in the frame in the middle of the frame. The outer legs are dominated by country life. [See Du Mortier, 1992] The frame has 14 non-contiguous legs of ivory with 'metal and quatre couleurs'. The outer legs are cut open so that pink or blue foil is visible.
