The Netherlands paid 8.5 million guilders and accepted other humiliating conditions. On the left an Austrian toll-gate with an open carriage, driven by a French officer, in which sits a Prussian officer; the officer is stopped by the Austrian official to pay a barrier fee, but the two Dutch footmen (members of the Dutch States), who are standing at the back of the carriage, say: 'We pay, my Lord!' whereupon the Prussian can continue his journey.
