The Netherlands paid 8.5 million guilders and accepted other humiliating conditions. On the left an Austrian toll gate with an open carriage, driven by a French officer, in which sits a Prussian officer; the officer is stopped by the Austrian official for payment of barrier money, but the two Dutch footmen (members of the Dutch States), who are standing at the back of the carriage, say: 'We pay, my Lord!' on which the Prussian can continue his journey.
