(21.5 x 14.8 cm), Drawings, Follower of Albrecht Altdorfer (German, Regensburg ca. 1480–1538 Regensburg), Chiaroscuro drawings first appeared in Germany before the middle of the fifteenth century, and gained increasing popularity into the sixteenth century. This example has been variously given to Albrecht Altdorfer, to his school, to the circle of Baldung, or to the young Lucas Cranach (1472-1553)
