'See here, Symonds,' said I, 'better ride back and try to persuade Miss Jones to change her mind and come over and see him.' 9. She came. We did not see the meeting, but Mac said afterwards it was very tender and touching. They returned together. 10. We remained behind and sacrificed ourselves rather than he should be tempted again.
