Idolatry of Jeroboam, Theodoor King, after Jacobus Buys, 1780, In the presence of King Jeroboam, at a temple, a sacrifice has just been made to a bull calf, which stands on a pied stall under the main frame of the temple. Jeroboam had set up calf worship in two places in Israel so that his subjects would not all have to travel to Jerusalem. In doing so, however, he violated the Ten Commandments and engaged in idolatry.
