Jar from the Burial of Amenhotep, New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, ca. 1479–1458 B.C., From Egypt, Upper Egypt, Thebes, Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, below the Tomb of Senenmut (TT 71), burial of Amenhotep, Pot I, 1935–36, Pottery, paint, H. 36 cm (14.3/16 in.); Diam. of mouth 11.5 cm (4 1/2 in.); Greatest diam. 17.5 cm (6 7/8 in.); D. 35 cm (13 3/4 in.), In the tomb of the child Amenhotep, six jars had been placed on either side of the coffin. The contents of the jars incidated that they had once held various liquids.
