Furthermore, everywhere parts of the population are in turmoil. On the right the Catholic church from which the Pope and the French king survey the events. At the top of the image is the title of the print in a cartouche on either side of which hang the mutilated bodies of the De Witt brothers. The print was published as part of the pamphlet 'Het Ondersoeck der Geesten' by Jacob de Lambre (Knuttel 10421). The date 1675 15 Febr. is handwritten on the pamphlet, which Muller considers to be the date of publication.
