The head, which is only covered with single strands of hair, is crowned with a bandage, the nose short and bulging. The eyes are grimly contracted. In contrast to specimens that were used in theater performances, the eyes are closed, only the pupils are indicated by a hole. That the mask, similar to other specimens, probably reminded of the world of the theater as a decorative element in a house is also suggested by the pierced upper side of the head. Here, remains of an iron pin have been preserved, on which the mask could be hung. Colossal masks were also used to decorate Roman theater buildings.
