A memorial to Joannes de Fremery, professor and pastor in Middelburg, who died in 1819. On the column is the portrait of De Fremery and the base shows a plaque with an eight-line text in Dutch. The monument is flanked by Faith with a book on her lap and in her hand a quill and by the grieving Religion. A putto shows the image of a church interior. On the ground lie the extinguished and broken torch and an hourglass as a sign of death. In the background on the left are two figures between sheaves of corn, one of which points upwards towards the sunlight. The bound together sheaves indicate the Last Judgment, in which God will reap the seed or his Word that has fallen into good soil, according to the likeness of the sower., Memorial to Joannes de Fremery, print maker: Walraad Nieuwhoff, (mentioned on object), publisher: D.A.M. Sluyter, (mentioned on object), The Hague, 1819 - 1821, paper, etching, engraving, h 325 mm × w 237 mm
