Model of a Life Buoy, Model of a lifebuoy with hoop, incomplete. The buoy is a ring made of piping covered with bladder and tarpaulin, A hoop is attached around the ring in which a drowning person can hold his ground. A flag should be placed on top of the hoop for maximum visibility of the buoy in the water. Scale 1: 2 (estimate)., A. Scheerboom, Netherlands, c. 1826, wood (plant material), sailcloth, h 80 cm × w 42 cm × d 42 cm
