Quadruple Offering Vase, First Intermediate Period–early Middle Kingdom, Dynasty 9–12, ca. 2100–2010 BC, From Egypt, Pottery, H. 8.2 cm, This dish of Nile clay covered all over with a red pigment has a rim folded inwards in five places. Stone dishes with inward-folded rims appear as early as the First Dynasty and would seem to derive from pottery prototypes, though examples in pottery are very rare before the First Intermediate Period
