Rear and side view of two cannons by Benningh, Two cannons manufactured by the Albert Benningk or Benningh foundry in Lübeck and donated to the States General in 1669 in gratitude for the prompt payments for the artillery supplied by him. Both cannons are richly decorated with allegorical scenes relating to the battle of the Republic at sea. On the cannons the weapons and names of the delegates responsible for the military equipment: Johan Eleman and Gerard Hasselaer. At the top a large allegorical trophy with the Dutch Lion flanked by Minerva, Hercules and Neptune. Here is a text tape with the assignment to the States of Holland and West Friesland.
