De Rede urges the churches to be tolerant. The Pope, Luther and Calvin are seated at a table. Two cats sit on the shoulders of the pope who eats porridge, Luther plays the lute and Calvin squeezes orange juice on his veal. On the right, a baptist kneels by the fireplace. Above the fireplace a sculpture group of Charitas. In the foreground is a personification of the Reason (Ratio) in the figure of a kitchen maid, on the left at the door another kitchen maid who probably personifies Tolerance with a deer (a reference to Coornhert?). Allegory of the Reformation, ca. 1560. In the performance several cartouches with texts in Dutch. Perhaps the original or else an early copy after an unknown original, De Rede exhorts the churches to tolerance., print maker: anonymous, Netherlands, 1560 - 1599, paper, engraving, h 225 mm × w 349 mm
