Despite the warnings of his father Daedalus (the winged man on the right), Icarus flew too close to the sun, melting the wax from his wings and causing him to fall. Above the Desolation Estate Room - where bankruptcies were declared and handled - this relief serves as a warning to the viewer: Icarus' recklessness and hubris led to his fall, just as recklessness and hubris could lead to bankruptcy.
