Prince Maurits makes together with a group friends a trip on the beach from Scheveningen to Petten in the sailing wagon built by Simon Stevin, April-May 1602. In the middle the prince sits among his friends in the large wagon. Below this is a stone tablet with an inscription in Latin (the dedication). On the right a small sailing wagon, probably a prototype, with a few people on board. On the beach spectators, fishermen and two riders. Top left a cartouche filled in with text in Latin. At the top right a cartouche filled in with text in French. At the bottom a woodcut with some figures and a schematic representation of the sailing chariot.
