Statue of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary from the Monastery of Saint Dominic (Santo Domingo), Cádiz, Retrato de Maria SS. del Rosario de la Ciudad de Cadiz (...) (title on object), Our Lady of the Holy Rosary was venerated as patron saint of the Spanish silver fleet. She is also said to have offered protection to the city during the tsunami of 1755. On either side of the statue of Mary are the statues of Servandus and Germanus on two columns, erected in 1705 at the Puerta del Mar in Cádiz. At the foot of the columns a Dominican nun on the left and Saint Dominic on the right. Behind the image a view of Cádiz. Below the statue are four monks and the Bishop of Cadiz, Tomás del Valle, behind an altar. Waves are crashing against the altar, according to the text the tsunami of 1755.
