Stopper of linen in which ten different stops are worked with multicolored silk and the initials LA, FGVW, EG and ANNO 1803 are embroidered, The initials LA and FGV(an), W, the parents of the embroiderer, are done in large italic letters. This seems to have been customary in the orphanage where she presumably resided, the Amsterdam Maagdenhuis. The preserved proofs show that she was a skilled craftswoman. Did she give credit to her teacher with the large letters EG? The stoppers are worked in three rows one above the other using the following techniques: (top row) kilim, matting, cross-stitch with EG, plain weave; (middle row) diamond, cross-stitch, satin stitch; (bottom row) diamond notch, goose eye: cross-stitch with eight satin hearts etc., diamond notch. The initials LA and FGVW in cross stitch, ANNO 1803 in star stitch. GHA on the crest in cross stitch, double open hem with soft green silk. Double open hem., GHA, Amsterdam, 1803, lap: linen (material), embroidering, length 48.5 cm × width 48.5 cm
