Strip of bobbin lace with horn of plenty closed by an acanthus leaf, Strip of natural colored bobbin lace: Binche lace. The repeating pattern consists of a horn of plenty closed by an acanthus leaf. Seemingly from beneath this acanthus leaf, a leafy stem springs from the edge of the horn, from which a three-lobed flower hangs. These flowers, possibly carnations, form scallops along the underside of the strip. The scalloped edge along the underside of the strip is formed between the 'flower scallops' by a leaf that lies beneath the horn of plenty. The motifs are made in linen stitching with openwork edges and cutouts. The motifs are connected by a lattice ground, a five-hole ground. A few different decorative grounds are used, including a snowflake ground in the horn of plenty and in the field above the hanging flower. The top of the strip is finished straight. The scalloped edge is finished with picots., anonymous, France (possibly), c. 1740 - c. 1749, linen (material), bobbin lace, Binche lace, snowflake filling, length 100 cm × width 5 cm × 12.5 cm
