Tombak Gilded Plaque, probably 16th century, Attributed to Turkey, Copper; chased, engraved and gilded (tombak technique), L. 12 3/4 in. (32.4 cm), Metal, This plaque is engraved with a symmetrical arabesque pattern against a ring-punched ground and terminates in two trefoils. It was probably one of a set adorning a large door, as can be seen in examples in the Suleymaniye Mosque and the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul
