The motif of the theater-playing and farcical erotica is popular in Hellenism and can also be traced in Roman art. This applique formed a unit with the Erots Inv. 1917.201 to 203. The eyelets were used to attach it to a robe or diadem. Together with similar garment appliqués, this piece comes from the find of Palaiokastron in Thessaly, discovered and excavated in 1909.
