Umbria Terni Ferentillo Abbazia di S. Pietro in Valle, this is my Italy, the italian country of visual history, The abbey was founded on the location where two hermits, Lazzaro and Giovanni, lived during the sixth century. It was founded by the Duke of Spoleto Faroaldo II. The nave of the church is unique in that it is oriented to the east. The church was reconstructed in the tenth and eleventh centuries, and it was completely restored in 1931. Photographs include exterior views, courtyard views, frescoes, sarcophagi and relief sculpture. Iconography includes Madonna and Child with Sts. Peter and Paul, Christ in a mandorla, S. Benedetto, S.
