Vase with archaic motifs, Qing dynasty (1644–1911), Qianlong period (1736–95), China, Jade (nephrite), H. 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm); H. incl. base 5 in. (12.7 cm); W. 1 9/16 in. (4 cm); D. 1 5/16 in. (3.4 cm), Jade, The interlaced designs, many ending in dragon’s heads, on the surface of this vase can be traced to decorations found on bronze vessels during the latter part of the Zhou dynasty (1046–256 B.C.).
