Wine glass, Hens cup of the Society The Ninths, Glass goblet decorated in carving. The base is trumpet-shaped, strongly hollowed in the center. The stem is composed of four smooth nodi between which is a lacy piece with one bubble and a thick nodus with two rows of bubbles. The chalice is conical with two curves at the bottom. The carving of the chalice: row of four arches with a figure standing on a pedestal. Man with fasces in left and horn of plenty in right hand. Crowned figure with sword in left hand and reins of lion behind him in right hand. Bearded man with heart in left hand and book in right hand; beside him a stork with ball in raised paw. A warrior with a wreath in each hand. Above each figure: three arms suspended from a ribbon. In the swags the arms of Arkel. South Holland, Gorinchem (with Arkel) and the Republic of the United Netherlands.
